I am currently working as a bilingual client service manager. I have been studying Japanese more than five years and the language is still intriguing to me.
One of the important values of my life can be explained in Japanese as “実るほど頭を垂れる稲穂かな。”, and over the time I have been working at CACTUS, I have come across many clients whose nature is just like the rice plant. It is sometimes so amazing for me to interact with people who have achieved great success in life, yet very humble. Such people inspire me to work harder and help them in fulfilling their dreams. I feel privileged to be part of such support system.
My daily duties include translation of the client’s requests, feedbacks via mail and web from Japanese to English and pass on to the native English speakers. Other tasks which I have started recently include estimating the cost and time required for the editing services based on the type editing and the desired date by which the client needs the file to be delivered.
There are a lot of things which needs to be remembered when preparing the quotations and confirming assignments. Two major things that a client service manager must remember are: at first we must clearly understand the client’s requirement completely; second we must do our best to reach the expectations from the client. Apart from fulfilling the required delivery preference of the file, the manager has to be very careful about the pricing for each assignment.
We have to remember that we must never be charging any client unfairly and we do our best to keep our pricing method and calculation method to be transparent. This is one of the best things I like about CACTUS. The pricing methods are transparent and we try to accommodate lot of client’s requests based on their budget.
As a foreigner it is sometimes very difficult for me to fully understand the client’s request, at that time I take help from the Japanese staff in my team who cordially help in understanding the nuance of the request. I personally believe learning about various cultures and respecting each culture helps in making friends across various nations and also help in development of one’s own personality.
Apart from work I am interested in listening to music, watching movies of various languages and making crafts. As of now I can understand 6 languages out of which I can speak 4 fluently. My future goal is to learn as many languages as possible, broaden my way of thinking and make many friends.
